Motorcycle Repair: S&S 113, drag pipes, fuel mixture

Question
QUESTION: I have an S&S 113" with 10,000 miles.  I am running a brand new dynatek programmable ignition, straight Siamese drags with an S&S Super 'G' with stock jetting. I have always had a slight problem with dry sooty plugs fouling. It recently got to the point I could no longer lean the mixture enough to prevent it from fouling out. I put in a brand new Super 'G'.  I cannot get the fuel mixture right.  I am either too lean or too rich. Plugs are still getting dry soot and usually get at least some black smoke from exhaust no matter how lean I set the mixture screw and accelerator pump. I am now getting gas in my oil with everything I can tell working properly.  I am on 3rd oil change and filter in 1 week.  Compression check revealed very high even compression in both cylinders.  Is it possible the drag pipes are not only making it impossible to set the carburetor properly but also letting gas in oil.  I also use Sea Foam occasionally. Please help!

ANSWER: First, you need to test your coil and plug wires to make sure they are good. Where you say you are turning the mixture screw, that only affects the bike when its a idle. If you are still haveing the fouling problem then you need to rejett the carb

QUESTION: Thanks for your answer and information Mike.  Brand new coil and plug wires. And, frequently change plugs. I'll check coil again though. My bike passes all the usual jett size tests with the current set-up (.295, and the other lowest recommended intermediate for a 113", super 'G'.) Should I still try dropping down another size? Do you have a recommendation about the gas getting in oil. Are they related?  Keeping in mind I always turn the petcock off, bike is always being gone over, all parts are well maintained.

ANSWER: Are you getting gas in the oil with the new carb? How do you know you are getting gas in the oil?

QUESTION: Yes. Gas in oil w/new carb.  I live in L.A. so temps are always pretty normal. Here's what I notice.  After the bike has sat all night and I check the oil before starting, I get an obvious gas smell on the dipsick and in the oil tank.  After it has run for awhile, I'ts a little less noticeable, like it's mixed in a little, but you still get a gas smell from the oil tank.  Right after a fresh oil change (which I've done a few back to backs lately) the oil will not start smelling like fuel until I've ran like 50 miles.  It's not like a super lot of gas, but it's definitely getting in there.  I've made like 5 wrench friendly buddies 'smell my oil', which is pretty funny, but they all agree - 'smells like your getting a little gas in there.'  But no solution.

Answer
On your jetting, you can keep going smaller until you stop fouling plugs or the bike does not correctly. Make sure you adjust he air/fuel misture screw every time you change jets. Also, turn off the pumper when riding the bike after jetting. If will give you a false reading ont he plugs. Once you have the jetting set then open the pumper, but only open it far enough that the bike does not stumble between shifts or when your cranking it on.
As to the fuel in the oil. About the only way you can get fuel in the oil is when you shut the bike off and fuel weeps past the petcock into the carb and then into the head. What you might try, to check it, is to go for a ride and let it warm up really well. Shut off the petcock and run the bike until the carb is empty and the bike shuts off. Remove the plug is the carb bowl and put a can under it and let it sit overnight. In the morning check the can and see if there is any gas in it.
