Motorcycle Repair: electrical, fuse box, suzuki gsx r

I have a 1986 Suzuki gsx-r and when i stopped to pump gas i turned it off, then after refueling i turned the key back to on and nothing would happen, the light won't come on and also the neutral light either as well as anything electrical. I recently took off the carbs and cleaned them and carb cleaner fell all over the place so please help.

First place I would look would be the fuse box.

Second I would check the battery. It could be your battery
has run out and when the bike stopped running you no longer
have anything to start it.

Question is why would the battery run down? Is it dry (add
distilled water and recharge it)? Is it just worn out (replace it)?
Or is there a problem with the charging system (recharge it
and test the charging system with a voltmeter)?
