Motorcycle Repair: no spark, new spark, bikebandit com

Hi Jim I have a 1982 atc200.
I can't get any spark even though the battery is fully charged and the starter motor is turning over as it is electric start.
I have tried a new spark plug and still no spark??

Check the voltage to the coil. It's the item numbered #3 in this image:

You should see 12v.

According to the fiche, the bike has a spring starter, not an electric start. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong model.

If you are not getting juice to the coil then you need to find out where the short or break is. Probably a corroded contact somewhere. Another possibility is that there's a problem with the signal generator.
