Motorcycle Repair: true duals, harley dealer, flhr

Question
Hi Mike , I have an 08 flhr & have been told several different things about air & pipes , I'am going to true duals (freedom perf) & have been told that I don't need to remap & been told to remap by Harley dealer & change the the air cleaner system , this is the first fuel injected bike I have had & know nothing about it , could you pls help with this because the more I talk to different people about this the more confused I'am getting , thx for any help , Bill

Answer
Your bike came from the factory a little lean to pass the EPA standards. When you change exhaust, you make the bike breath better and by doing this it will lean it out more. Changing the air cleaner to a high flow is a good idea, so the bike will breath even better, but you will lean it out even more.
Once you have it setup with your air cleaner and exhaust, you need to remapp or you will run to lean. You dont have to have it done at a dealer. Anybody that has a remapp program can do it for you. I remapp bike all the time and I dont have a harley system to do it with
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
