Motorcycle Repair: 1979Honda cm400t, overflow pipe, bikebandit com

Question
Bike was running but the right carb was leaking from the drain at bottomof bowl. I pulled the carbs off and opened the bowls and cleaned them up but they were not to bad. I than bought new bowl gaskets and determined that their was a leak in the brass overflow pipe on the float bowl,so I repaired it. I than cleaned all the other parts on the carb and blew it out with compressed air. The float needles looked pretty good so I put them back in. I put the carbs back on and the bike will not start. I opened the drain plugs and their is gas in the bowls but it does not seem to be getting fuel at the plugs. I put a small amount of gas in the cylinders and it fired right up but than died agian, it will not start, can you give me some advise please
Thanks Kim

Answer
I am a little concerned with your repair of the brass overflow pipe you describe. Referring to the microfiche. Maybe you can identify what that is:

Does the bike run when fully choked?

If not then somehow the choke circuit got plugged up. Often the choke is fed via a brass tube which dips into the bowl. So I'm wondering if you somehow plugged up the choke tube as part of your repair?
