Motorcycle Repair: chain noise, aluminum channel, straight bar

i have a ninja zx600e the chain was loose and i tighten it but it makes a clicking noise now can any one help me !!

It's possible the chain is out of alignment. Also note that a warmed up chain will be alot looser and smoother. Maybe the clicking is due to the chain being cold?

To check alignment of the rear wheel I use a straight bar of aluminum channel and press it against the tire. I then line it up with the chain and look at the end (near the front sprocket) it will be obvious if the wheel needs to be adjusted.
