Motorcycle Repair: 97 sportster 883, sportster 883, loose plug

Question
I came down a hill at night low on fuel. Before I could switch to reserve, engine stalled. What was weird is that the electrical also cut off and the lights went out. I pulled over, got the bike started again and everything seems fine. Put in 2.3 gals at next exit. I don't recall that ever happening, but also don't recall stalling at night. So, is that normal for a 97 Sporty's lights to turn off when out of gas, or could something else be going on? Thanks!

Answer
Running ouot of fuel shouldnt have anything to do with the lights going off. They should have stayed on. SInce they are working and you dont have a problem then there is nothing much you can check, other than loose plug connections. If it goes off and stays off then you can follow the wires from the battery through the key switch and to the lights with a test light to see where the problem is
Good luck and happy riding
