Motorcycle Repair: Harley FLH 1972 clutch, spring tension, hi mike

Question
Hi Mike
My clutch on the bike is slipping when giving full throttle/high acceleration around 4000 rpm . Its a standard clutch. The clutch is around 2 years old and have done few miles. I have inspected the lamels and steel plates and they are fine.
Is it because of low spring tension ? Maybe the springs is adjusted/tensed wrongly from the former owner ? What is happening when springs are tightened more ?
kind regards
Carsten

Answer
Remove the adjustment from your clutches. Tighten up the nuts ont he springs about 1 to 1 1/2 turns and readjust the clutch and see if that doesnt help. Your adjustment bolt should have about 1/8 turn outward from bottoming out, then adjust he cable

Good luck and happy riding
Mike
