Motorcycle Repair: 1994 Fatboy, speedo cable, hi mike

Hi Mike - recently my speedo cable either broke or has come loose from the back of the speedometer. Can you please tell me how to remove the speedometer to take a look at the connection? I've removed the nut on the front of speedo/ignition cover, but the speedo is not coming out and the "cover" is hung up on the tripometer reset knob. help?  Thanks!

The knob has to come off. There is a small screw inside that has to be removed and then the know will slide off. Once you have the cover off then you can remove the speedo. It is held in by two pins on each side of the speedo
