Motorcycle Repair: headlight/turn signal problem., turn signals, signal problem

Question
I have a 2000 883 and I'm running my wiring inside the bars.  I hooked up the left side and turned the key to check everything out.  The headlight didn't come on and my front signal lights stay on now.  The signals flash as they should when you hit the switches but I don't think the are supposed to be on all the time. Everything else (horn taillight, rear signals) are working like they should.  I checked the headlight terminals with a meter and I'm showing no power coming into the headlight at all. Have I screwed up the wiring? Any suggestions as to what is going on here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
On a 2000 the front turn signals have a two filment bulb. One it for turn signals and the other is for running lights, so a light is suppose to be on. If your headlight is not working then you have a wire off or a shorted wire, so you need to check it
Good luck and happy riding
