Motorcycle Repair: 1978 Yamaha DT 175, mosquito fogger, yamaha dt 175

Question
I have an old Enduro 2 stroke, a 1978 Yamaha DT 175 with an oil injection unit. The throttle cable broke and it is on order, but I do have a brand new standard universal cable that fits the throttle assembly and carb slide. I was thinking of using the universal throttle cable until the proper one I ordered arrives. Would it be ok to run the bike using premixed fuel, and if so what is the fuel/oil ratio, and would I have to do any tweaks to the lube system to avoid any problems. Thanks in advance for your time.

Answer
Hi Chris...

Sorry to keep ya waiting over the weekend...

Yeah... you can run it on premix. I would use a 20:1 ratio. But when the new cable arrives and you install it and the injector is back online, drain the premix from the fuel tank and refill with gas only. Otherwise, you will be running too high of an oil mixture and the bike will become a mosquito fogger and you'll foul the plug out real quick. Have fun Chris!!
