Motorcycle Repair: 1985 honda VT700c, clutch lever, wireing harness

Question
I am haveing an electrical problem with my bike. I hooked up the battery backwards since then I have been having nothing but problems. The conectors to the stator and rectifier were melted. I replaced them both. I also replaced the CMI boxes and the main wireing harness. Now I still don't have power to the fuel pump or the starter selenoid. Everything else works. Any sugestions? Please help!!!!
Mike

Answer
There's a relay that controls the fuel pump.  Chances are that's been damaged and there's a diode that controls prevents current from going to the starter relay until the clutch lever is pulled in.  That also may need to be replaced.  It's just a matter of taking it one step at a time checking things with a VOM until you get it all sorted out.

Good Luck
