Motorcycle Repair: Temperature Guage, gauge cluster, honda dealership

Question
I have a 1988 honda shadow VT800, with the Tach and temp. gauge as one. I am going to replace the entire gauge cluster with a single gauge (Acewell 2853-AC). My question is, the replacement gauge does not have a temp gauge, can I add an after marker one? Is my existing one mechanical or electrical? and if it is electrical what is the resistance (oms)? will I need to change the sending unit or can that be re-used?
