Motorcycle Repair: 84 Honda V45 Magna 700 wont start, honda v45 magna, honda magna

Question
I bought a 84 Honda Magna 700 this week and it started great for two days. from the time I saw it come in on trade, it started at least 20 times or more.  All of a sudden we went to start it and the solenoid just clicks.  I replaced the battery and same thing happened.  Solenoid appears to be ok and switch on clutch also.  Not sure where the diode is they talk about.  I'm putting a full charge on the battery now.  Also looked at a 97 Suzuki 650 for $2250 while I work on the Honda.  Can you help me out ?  Thanks   Mike

Answer
If the starter solenoid is clicking and the starter isn't turning that would indicate a problem with either the battery or the starter. Recharge the battery and keep an eye on the charging system. Hook up a voltmeter to the battery and check the voltage while the bike is running.
