Motorcycle Repair: 81 yamaha xs 650, starter solenoid, yamaha xs 650

Question
Recently I was replacing a wire connector in the rear turn signal which caused a spark, but didn't blow any fuses.  Ever since it won't turn over, I depress the starter button and nothing at all occurs, when I use the kick starter I can get the headlight to turn on, but it won't spark.
I believe that my starter solenoid is working properly, what could be wrong?

Answer
hello anthony if your bike has a kickstand switch ,which will not let the bike start while the kickstand is down i would replace the switch are raise the kickstand. or you could take a pair of booster cables hook them up to an auto hook the red going to yur bike directly to yur solenoid the black to yur frame and with the switch on the bike should turn over and crank if it doesnt yur starter is bad or yur solenoid.i hope i have been hel;pfull.ok let me knoe. P.S please leave feedback for me
