Question
how do you check the oil

Answer
The bike must be on it's centerstand on level ground. There is an oval sightglass located on the right hand side (if you were sitting on the seat) below and to the rear of the cylinder head and nearly hidden by the frame. I usually need to use a trouble light to get enough light on mine to see it properly.

There is a slot type screw head in the centre of the sight glass that is connected to a wiper on the inside for cleaning the glass. They aren't really necessary so I leave mine oriented horizontally so that it doesn't interfere much with viewing the oil level.

When the correct amount of oil has been put into the crankcase during an oil change the oil level will be at the screw. The level should never be allowed to drop below the lower level marks on the crankcase or be filled above the upper level marks.
