Motorcycle Repair: 1976 FXE, mustang seats, oem controls

QUESTION: seat is a crbin, its too low....stock controls, they are too far back..I am 5'10" need to get in a better riding position, thinking solo seat, and change controls, are there any controls that would move the controls nearer to the cam cover, not all the way to the fron of the bike, just mid way  thank you.

ANSWER: At 5' 10" tall it wount hurt the move the controls foward to the front of the bike. I dont know of any that will only go midway. They are all in the same location.
Seats are going to depend on what is comfortable for you. You can chek out the Mustang seats online to find what will work for you.

QUESTION: The FL models for 1976 had the controls near the cam cover, same frame same engine so if I got the OEM controls for a FL model that would bring them farther up...the FXE controls are farther back behind the cam cover.

I thought you wanted to move them even farther foward, like foward contrals. You can use the FL controls and that will push them foward a little, but with your heigth, I think you are still going to be cramped. If it were me I would look into foward contrals for your bike. That way you can stretch your legs out.
