Motorcycle Repair: 1964 Duo Glide, dual points, test light

Question
QUESTION: Hi Mike,
I have a "64 Duo Glide all original except for an S&S Super E for a carb. I do have the original Linkert carb in a box in case I decide to sell as an original Duo Glide. Still has a 6v system. Dual points and coils.
My problem is when the bike warms up and after driving only a few miles it stalls when I come to a stop. Doesn't stall while driving. Won't start back up until it sits for a half hour or so. It will alway's start up again but I can't figure out why it stalls. Doesn't feel like it's not getting gas and I adjusted the carb so it's not to lean. maybe the coils are going?
Thanks,
Brian

ANSWER: When it stalls use a test light and see if you have power at the coil and let me know

QUESTION: Doesn't look like I'm getting power at the coil when it stalls.

Answer
If youa re not getting power to the coil, then follow the wire back to its source. If you have a on/off switch on the handle bar then that is where the power comes from. If you just run the coul off the ignition switch, then that is where the power comes from. You probably have a short in the wiring.

Good luck and happy riding
