Motorcycle Repair: brake cylinder gasket, stock master, brake cylinder

QUESTION: Hey Mike
I have a 96 buell chopper with a sportster engine. My frony brake cylinder leaks because the gasket shrunk and is leaking. I had to remove the fluid, now i have no front brakes. Any ideas where i can find a gasket?

ANSWER: Are you talking about the master cylinder or the brake caliber leaking?

QUESTION: Im not a pro---but I am pretty sure it is the master--you can tell that the gasket doesnt clamp down on all sides---i dont know why it did this

ANSWER: The master cylinder is on the handlebars and the brake caliber is at he wheel. Are you talking about the gasket under the master cylinder cap?

If you have a stock master cylinder you can get one from a dealership. take the gasket in and you should be able to match one up. If you dont have any fluid in the master cylinder you will have to bleed the brakes to get the air out of the line
