Motorcycle Repair: sticking rear brake, ring groove, o ring

Question
i have a 1983 honda shadow my rear brake is sticking i can,t even hardly push it in neutral what could cause this it was not sticking till today

Answer
Usually it's because the o-rings in the caliper get a varnish build up around them and freeze the piston in the bore.  You have to take the unit apart and clean it out real well.  I usually have to scrape the varnish from the o-ring groove and clean the o-ring well, and then reassemble everything. The hard part is ususlly getting them apart.
