Motorcycle Repair: Speedometer for 82 Nighthawk 450, speedometer repair, ebay auctions

I just bought an 82 nighthawk 450 off the son of the original owner the bike is in beautiful shape but the speedometer does not work is this something that can be repaired or would I need to replace it. If it needs replaced where would I find such a part

David, first check the speedometer cable that is attached to the front wheel. Disconnect the drive end of the cable at the wheel and see if the inner cable is broken. It should slide out the bottom of the cable housing if it is all intact. If it is okay and complete from top to bottom then the meter is apparently failed. You can check for them on: Ebay auctions

Check with Honda as it could be a leftover part floating round in their parts warehouse system.

There are some speedometer repair shops that might be able to evaluate and repair it, but many of these are plastic cased units and difficult to open and repair successfully.
