Motorcycle Repair: 1974 XLCH 1000, leaded fuel, leaded gas

Question
I run high test through my bike because that is what everyone I ride with does.  In 1974, I believe they still had leaded gas.  Should I be using a lead additive since this motor was probably designed to run on leaded fuel?

I know bikers who add lead additive and ones that do not. There is no difference in the running of the bike. Over time it will wear the valve seats without the lead addative, but that is alot of miles before that happens. Personnaly, I dont think you need it
