Motorcycle Repair: Speedo Housing -79 FX Shovel, manula, speedo

I am rebuilding a 79 shovel and the speedo housing located on the left side of the front axle requires repair.  I have the axle out of the wheel and it looks as though the speedo housing is held in place by a spacer that has been pressed onto the axle.  I have a HD manula but it makes no reference to the speedo housing.  Can you please advise on how to egt the speedo housing off the axle or is this not possible.

The housing you are refering to is the speedo drive. There is nothing pressed on the axle. That is proably the spacer from the speedo drive. The spacer is part of the drive unit. You need to replace the speedo unit. You will probably have to cut it off
