Motorcycle Repair: 76 Honda XL175, stator windings, coil resistance

Question
I recently obtained an XL 175 that had been sitting for 20 years.  The bike had the battery and all light taken off.  Two wire from the stator were twisted together and the other on went to the coil and points.  It ran great for about two months after rebuilding the carb.  i went to start it one day and found there was no spark. I changed the coil and stator and points and still no spark.  I'm having trouble finding any info on a 76 about stator and coil resistance....please help if you can

Answer
I have no idea how you were able to get the bike running with the two stator windings twisted together.  AC current come out of the stator and the coils won't function on AC current.  That bike needs a battery to operate the electrics.  It has a magnet, a stator, a rectifier, voltage regulator and a battery.  The coil and points are powered off the battery.  If you hook it up that way, I'm sure it will run.

Good luck
