Motorcycle Repair: 1996 Ultra Speedometer Drive, speedometer drive, set screw

I own a 1996 Ultra. The speedometer drive is bad. The cable is not wanting to come off the old one. How do I remove the cable without damaging it? There are no instructions for this proceedure in the repaid manual for this model.

There are two different ways they are installed into the drive unit. One, there is a small set screw on the drive unit which holds the cable in and two, the cable screws into the drive unit. Becasue your speedo drive is damaged it might have damaged the end of the cable, so I would suggest changing it as well.
