Motorcycle Repair: 2004 heritage flstc, allen bolt, stock front

I would like to replace stock front sliders with chrome,i have service manual,but not sure how much i have to take apart to accomplish this?

You will have to jack the bike up and remove the front tire, fender, brake caliber. Once you have that done drain the fork oil. there will be a small screw on the side of the fork to take out to drain. at the bottom of the fork, inside, there is a allen bolt that has to be removed. Once its out the lower fork will slide off
