Motorcycle Repair: 1983 Honda Shadow Camchain tensioner, 1983 honda shadow, crankcase

Question
Hey there I have a 1983 Honda Shadow with 55K it was sitting before the guy i got it off had it and shortly after i bought it it stopped shifting so I had to realign the shift spindles.  While taking off the clutch outer housing a spring was floating around

I'm thinking this is the camchain tensioner spring.  Can I get at this without removing the motor?

Answer
Well Barry, I can't see the picture without a password but if it is the camchain tensioner spring it requires pulling the motor because the lower mount is buried inside the lower crankcase.   Does the engine start?  Does it sound like something is really loose inside? I won't rev the bike up and down too much it could jump time if the tensioner is completely loose.  I'd want to be sure I knew what is is before I pulled the engine out.  I could be the shift drum detent spring depending on what it looks like.
