Motorcycle Repair: 83 V65 magna, v65 magna, speed jets

just bought this bike it spits and sputters tween 1000 and 4000 rpm then it runs good have a lot of blow by from crankcase no leaks not much smoke I'm lost

Rick, if it runs better with the choke on, I'd put my money on the low speed jets being plugged up.  The idle circuit controls the fuel from 0 to about 1/4 throttle which is about the range you're talking about.  It will take a carb cleaning to unplug the idle jets.
