Motorcycle Repair: oil change, suzuki gs 650, 2 quarts

Question
i have an 83 suzuki gs 650 tempter.. i've misplaced the manual and can't remember how much oil i'm supposed to put in to it

Answer
Tammy,

when changing oil, you should always
add a couple of quarts or litres (10W40 motorcycle oil)
and then run the bike briefly
to circulate the oil and fill the
oil filter.
Let the bike sit a moment and then
recheck the oil with the bike
sitting level.
If it has a dipstick you check
it without screwing the stick in.
With a level site glass, you just add until
the oil is near the top line.
Most larger bikes hold over
2 quarts of oil and then
you add as required from there.
