Motorcycle Repair: timming, timing light, flywheel

i have a 1991 883 xl sporster i want to check the timing i see the marks on the plate but none on the housing how do i set the timming.thanks

There is a timing plug on the left side of the case. You have to remove the plug and install a clear plug and use a timing light. the marks are on the flywheel. If you have not changed the timing, then it wont change. the timing is direct off the cam and dosent change unless you change it
