Motorcycle Repair: 1963 Honda CA95 150 Benly, piston rings, bill silver

Question
I am looking at purchasing a 1963 Honda CA95 150 Benly that I found on
Craigslist and I just want to ask a couple of questions. First of all, do you
know where I can find a user's manual or the specifications of the bike?

One thing the listing said was that the bike was a "smoker" when it was
stored, what would it take to fix that?

It needs the following according to the poster:
Both side covers,
a seat cover,
new paint job (it already has primer),
and an engine rebuild (supposedly new piston rings and carb rebuild).

The whole thing is $250, is that a good deal or just a waste of my time and
money?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
John

Answer
John, if the bike is complete and has a rebuilt top end, then the smoking problems should be solved.

Owner's manuals are often listed on Ebay, as are the various parts you need, also check with www.apexcycle.com for some repro items for Benlys.

At $250 you could part it out and make money on that investment.

Understand that Benly and Dream machines are really different, although they appear to be similar. Almost no parts will interchange.
