Motorcycle Repair: ignition switch, hot wire, sportster

Hey Mike I have a 1998 sportster and im redoing the ignition from a key to a barrel key but im not sure what wire is the acc and the ground can you help thanks

There is no ground on a ignition switch. You have a hot wire, a lights wire and a acc. wire. Different manufactures use different color wires, so it would be tough for me to tell you what wire is which. Generally the red wire is hot from the battery. You can check by connection a wire from the battery to one wire and see where the power goes with each turn of the switch. It would be a process of elimanation
