Motorcycle Repair: 1977 sportster, gears, good luck

I have a 1977 sportster with no 4th gear, was riding and went to up shift no noise just will not go to 4th all other gears are fine, what do you think? also where can I get info on a sevice manual thanks allot Pat

Anyone who deals with V-twin Manufacturing can get you a service manual.
About the only thing you are going to be able to do is pull the trans and see what the problem is. Could be a bent shifter fork, bad bearing, bad shifter cam etc.
