Motorcycle Repair: Primary/Transmission Oil Change issues on 2005 Sportster XLH1200, transmission oil change, clutch adjustment

Question
Hi, I recently tried to replace my derby cover on a 2005 Sportster XLH1200. When I took the old one off all the primary fluid came out. I bought a quart of new fluid from my local dealership and poured it all in. (Later finding out that there was a drain plug that I didn't pull.) Now when I shift down to 1'st when I stop the bike tries to pull forward even with the clutch fully squeezed. Also I can't shift up or down. When I release the clutch and pull it back in the problem goes away. Now my question is did I put too much primary fluid and not drain the old properly or did I unknowligly mess up the clutch adjustment? What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!!

Answer
First, the primary only holds 32 ozs so you need to drain it and replace it. Next, remove the derbly cover and check the clutch adjustment at the clutch and at the clutch lever. Once you have them set you should be ok
Good luck and happy riding
