Motorcycle Repair: not charging my battery, shovel head, stator

Question
i have an old 1200 shovel head early 80's seem like it is only pulling from the battery and not charging is it my rectifire or stator

Answer
You need to teat the stator first. Do a OHMs test at both pins of the stator. Then start the bike and test the AC voltage. You should be getting around 50 volts at 2000 RPM
If the stator passes then the regulator is bad
