Motorcycle Repair: 1985 Honda Goldwing GL 1200, honda goldwing gl, gl 1200

Question
I recently installed a new stator on my 1985 Honda Goldwing GL 1200 and all the old wires where yellow and the new ones are black but no numbers or anything of reference to hook them back up! Does it matter which wire goes where.
I would like to thank you in advance if you can possibly help, as I am ready to ride. Thanks so much---Mack

Answer
Mack,

it doesn't matter which wire goes where.
Just connect them to the 3 yellows.
The other ends of the wires are connected
together within the stator windings anyway.

They are just wound in different phases
and come out separately. They output
"AC" voltage which is converted by
the regulator to "DC" for charging
and regulated to approx 14 volts
to the battery.

You may want to solder the wires for
a solid connection to the regulator.
The connectors do get bad over time.
Double check your battery voltage
to make sure all is well once
you get it running.
