QUESTION: hi i am working on this for a friend. the speedo will work and then cut out until it is restarted. it also idle and stay running at low rpms it seems like it is on one cylinder. but it will run fine at higher rpms. don't know if this is two problems or the same.any info will help. thank you.

ANSWER: Check and see if its running on one cylinder. Hold each spark plug to the cylinder and turn the bike over and see if you get a spark on both and let me know

What you need to do is test the ignition system. It sounds like the pickup is cutting in and out, which might be causing the speedo problem. Get a service manual and it will have the tests in it you need to do and how to do them
