Motorcycle Repair: lowering, lowering kit, fxst

I have a 1990 fxst and want to lower the rear 1", do I need to preload the shocks or do anything special? thank you for your time!!!

All you need to do is either find a lowering kit or replace the shocks. Make sure you have enough room to lower it when you are sitting on the bike. You want to have enough room so if you hit a hard bump you dont rub the fender
