Motorcycle Repair: sportser rockerbox leak, rod tubes, assembley

hi mike,i have a 1990 1200 sporty with 6000 miles on it.It has a oil leak between the head and lower rocker box.I have read the shop manual.but was wondering if i had to remove the push rod tubes  and or rocker arm shafts to remove and replace the lower rocker box.Can i remove and replace the lower rocker box as an assembley?

Yes you can remove the lower rocker box without removing the pushrod tubes or the rocker arms. Just take the upper one off, then the middle and last the lower. You will have to remove the pushrods to get the lower off
