Motorcycle Repair: water in transmission, wideglide, vent

Question
my '97 wideglide had a cup of water in the transmission when i changed the fluid last.  i dont powerwash it and it stays covered.  What could be causing this?

Answer
There are only a few places that water can enter. Top cover, side cover, dipstick, drain, vent or cable fitting. If it entered the left side it would have to go through the inner primary. I susspect you got some water through the vent
Good luck and happy riding
