Motorcycle Repair: smoke, flsts, o rings

Question
hi mike, i have a 1998 flsts ,a year ago i had it serviced  and the said the o-rings replace on the valves ,the bike got hot on me at myrtle beach sitting in traffic. the guy said this happens a lot, well i've been sick and havent riding the bike but 2 times in the last year, but now it smokes, blue, i ask the guy a cape fear harly, and he said just ride it and see if it quits, it hasent, the bike only has 10,000 miles on it,and it don't use any oil. do you think those o-rings have dryed out ,because  of sitting to long? and how hard are they to replace, thanks ,rb

Answer
First, the valves dont have any o-rings so I am not sure what they replaced.
The smoking means youa re burning a little oil. It doenst take much to make smoke. There are two places you can get the oil from. Either the valve guide seals or oil leaking around the rings. Either way the top end would have to come off.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
