Motorcycle Repair: 2008 HD Dyna Wide Glide-Battery drain, lojack system, dyna wideglide

Question
QUESTION: I purchased a 2008 HD Dyna Wideglide 105th Edistion in September. Since then the bike has gone through 2 batteries. It has the HD security system and the dealer installed a LoJack system. If the bike sits for a week or two the battery goes dead. The dealer said the first two batteries were defective. The dealer states that there is nothing wrong with the bike, current draw is 4mA. Spoke with LoJack stated that LoJack draws .23 mA, but if installed incorrectly will drain the battery. Contacted HD customer service, no help at all, can't get a resolution. Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: Since your bike is still under warrenty they should be helping you with your problem, not sluffing you off. It sounds like the Lojack system was installed incorrectly. I would keep bugging them until they correct the problem. Check and see if your state has a lemon law. I know here, if the dealership cant fix a problem, you have a right to return the bike and get your money back.
Good luck and happy riding

QUESTION: What would be a reasonable length of time that the bike could sit in the OFF position and still expect the bike to start. The weather here in Southern California is very mild and should not have nuch affect. I don't think it is reasonable to have to plug in the bike to a battery tender every time I park the bike in my gararge as suggested by the dealer. Thanks for your help.

Answer
That is going to depend on the draw. I know that I can leave my dress sitting for about 3 weeks without charging the battery. It has a draw for the radio.
If it were me I wouldnt accept the dealers notion that you have to have a battery tender.
