Motorcycle Repair: 2000 shadow stalling, honda vt600c, faulty side

Question
I have a 2000 honda vt600C (2000 original miles) that will not run more than a couple seconds after turning over.  Yesterday it ran 100% normally.  This morning it would idle and rev in neutral but died as soon as the clutch was let out, and this afternoon it stalls as soon as it starts.  There are no modifications, and the carb LOOKS clean although I haven't taken it apart.  What is wrong??

Answer
Andrew,

since the bike was running normally yesterday
as you said, I suspect something like a faulty
side stand switch or clutch switch.

You may be able to bypass the side stand switch
temporarily by connecting the green wire to
the green/white wire. This simulates the
stand being up.

These switches can possibly be checked with
a multimeter to see if they are switching
properly on and off.
Just disconnect them and hook up the meter
to the switch.

Just to be sure it is not a fuel problem
check your fuel flow to the carbs
or try some wd40 or carb cleaner in the
back of the carbs to see if it
will run on it. If it runs then maybe
it is a lack of fuel.
