Motorcycle Repair: waterpump drip, honda sabre, ebay ca

Question
Hi Wayne, I have a 1985 V65 Honda Sabre, I have a drip coming from my water pump cover that I can't get stopped.  I have changed the cover gasket a couple of times and also replaced the waterpump cover.  but it still drips when the engine warms up.  any Ideas on stopping the leak or if I need a new waterpump do you know where i can get one.  Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Curt

Answer
Curt,

Check the hoses carefully.
Small leaks usually show up
under pressure like when engine is warm.

-the leak may be the seals around the
cover o-rings or possibly pump impeller shaft or worn pump
bearings. I think Honda only sells
complete pumps rather than seal kits.

-If you remove the pump, the impeller seal
would be on the engine side of the pump
on the pump shaft. This keeps coolant
out of the oil.

-You can do some measuring and possibly
check with this guy on eBay (link below) whether
his inner seal for the V65 would work in
your pump.

Check the hoses, the o-rings, seals or
replace the whole pump is about it I think.
Could the leak be coming from any other source?
