Motorcycle Repair: 68 z50 ko, stator coil, battery ignition

Hi Wayne,
I have a 1968 z50 ko and I want to a c70 motor into it. The ko has no battery, the c70 has a battery. Can I convert the c70 so it will run without a battery in the ko?? Also will a ko coil work on this motor?

it depends alot on the year of the c70 engine
as some had magnetic flywheels and some
had rotors and stators that need to be
excited with a battery to produce current
for the ignition.

Later models (about 1983?) even used a "CDI" type ignition system.

If the c70 has a magnetic flywheel you
are in business. If it is a small rotor
inside a stator coil you need a battery.

Ignition coil will probably work okay.
