Motorcycle Repair: 2003 Yamaha V-Star 650 Turn Indicator, yamaha v star 650, yamaha v star

Question
Recently, my running left running light burned out.  The filament for the turn indicator was still working on the same bulb, but I replaced the bulb after MUCH stress because the socket was extremely rusted.  In my pulling, the wires for the socket became disconnected.  I tried to reconnect them, but there are three wires (Brown, Blue, and Black).  How do I rewire this socket?  I figured the black was the ground, but when I ground it to the motorcycle, the running light works, but the blinker blinks fast (signaling a bad bulb) on the running light filament.  Please help me rewire this.  Thanks!

Answer
Dayton,

-the blue wire is your running lights.
-the brown or "chocolate" wire is the left signal.
-black wire is ground.
-if it flashes too fast, you may have a poor
connection or the wrong bulb.
If all else fails, check the ground and
switch the brown and blue wires.
