Question
I just got this 4 wheeler and I drained the fuel changed the spark plug, oil, and anti freeze, and it starts up and idles great. But there is a light on that says belt, and it backfires when you push the throttle. the guy i got it from said it happened before and when he took it in all they did was reset the computer or something any idea how i would do that? Thanks Mark Jacobson

Answer
What you are describing to me sounds like a safety rev limiter. By chance is the parking brake on?? Check for this first and get back with me. A lot of ATVs have a safety parking brake that will make the quad hit a rev limiter and "backfire" this is actually the rev limiter coming in so the quad will not take off.
