Motorcycle Repair: air shocks & forks, kawasaki voyager, air shocks

Question
Wayne,
Maybe you can tell me what to do about front forks with air ride that don't keep the air.  Rides like a buckboard.  Same thing for the rear shocks.  It's a '98 Kawasaki Voyager Xll with 9000 miles on it.  Any input will be most appreciated--------Jack

Answer
Jack,

other than rebuilding or replacing the units
you could use some heavier weight fork
oil (10W) and replace the fork springs
with a new progressive rate spring.

-You don't necessarily have to have air
to get a good ride, the oil damping and
spring rate are more important.

-New seals would likely fix the fork air leaks,
the rear shocks, it would be better to
replace them I think.
