Motorcycle Repair: 1996 Sporty 883 Starter issue, fuse box, missing teeth

Question
I started the bike up fine and put the choke in too soon - so it died.  So I pulled the choke out again and hit the start... and noticed that there was absolutely NO electrical on - no gauges, lights, NOTHING... and it wouldn't start.  So the battery's fine... I checked the fuses & they're fine... I'm suspecting that it may be the starter relay as after I was checking some of the wiring, the lights and things came on and when I attempted to start, the motor just did a noise like a starter missing teeth, but the bike didn't turn over and all power went out again.  So... what do you think?  Starter relay?  And how do I take that off of the fuse box to replace it?  I want to do this myself if I can.

Answer
You need to check to see where the problem is. Since you had no power anywhere check the cables on the battery (both ends). If you still have no power then make sure you have power going to the key switch and away from the key switch.
then check to make sure you have power at the breakers
Good luck and happy riding
