Question
First off let me thank you for helping me out 2 before.Anyway i cleaned my carb and put a new clutch cable on the same day and now the cycle dont go as fast as it did before. The air cleaner was real loose when i took the carb off so when i put it back on i tighted it good.Does the carb maybe need adjusted. What screw is what. One has a sring on it and the other is smaller with no spring.Does the clutch cable have something to do with it.I also put premium gas in it for the first time.Any help is nice. Thanks again                   Ian

Answer
Ian,

-is the air filter clean? Maybe when you tightened
it the engine has trouble getting enough air.

-make sure your new clutch cable has some slack
or free play at the lever otherwise your
clutch could be slipping.

-the bigger screw on your carb is to set the
idle speed up or down.

-the smaller screw is the pilot air screw or
idle screw, turning it clockwise or inward
reduces the idle air and makes the fuel
mixture richer or like more fuel.

-turning it anti-clockwise or outward
allows more air in the idle circuits
making the idle fuel mixture leaner.
Usually it is set about 1-1/2 turns out.
The screws usually both have springs
on them, the smaller may have an o-ring.

-These bikes run better on regular fuel,
they don't need premium as the additives
just hinder the combustion process.

-if the bike doesn't run clean at higher
speeds, the main jet may be a size
too large or the exhaust pipe
may be oil logged. The pipes
sometimes need to be cut open
and cleaned of old oil soaked
packing.
